Santo Domingo
Spanish course in Santo Domingo
Discover the oldest city in the New World! Founded in 1496 by the brother of Christopher Columbus, Santo Domingo is overflowing with history.
The Alcázar de Colón is a palace built by Columbus’ son, whilst the Catedral Santa María La Menor is the oldest church in the Americas. A Spanish course in Santo Domingo will introduce you to countless historic sights, the majority of which can be found in the beautiful Zona Colonial, by the banks of the Ozama River.
The capital of the Domincan Republic, a city of nearly three million people, Santo Domingo is also very modern and dynamic. Shop at busy markets or stylish malls; dine on sublime international cuisine in seafront restaurants; or enjoy Santo Domingo’s incredible nightlife! Just outside the city are exquisite, white-sand beaches like Boca Chica, Playa Juan Dolio or Playa Esmeralda. Whatever you’re looking for, you’re sure to have a trip to remember if you learn Spanish in Santo Domingo!

Our school in Santo Domingo, IIC Santa Domingo, is located in the world-famous Colonial Zone. The historic old town, the Colonial Zone is a treasure trove of historic monuments and architecture dating back to the Colonial period.
This is the oldest permanent settlement in the New World and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Spanish courses in Santo Domingo
Both group-based and one-on-one Spanish lessons are available at our school. You can take 20 or 30 classes each week, either as part of a same-level group, or on an individual basis. If you opt for an ‘Intensive’ course of 20 Spanish lessons per week, you’ll leave yourself with plenty of time to explore the Dominican Republic.
On the other hand, a ‘Super-Intensive’ course of 30 lessons per week will give you extra time in class, enabling you to learn at a greater pace.
Why not complement your group course with some additional private lessons? This is a fantastic option, because as well as working on improving your overall level in your group lessons, the private lessons will afford you the totally undivided attention of our school’s well-qualified, experienced teachers. You can use these lessons to focus on any aspect of the language you wish, so you’ll soon be speaking Spanish with confidence!
